Party on the Ponderosa Rides Again

Congratulations to Cindy Hand, the winner of the 2009 Chevy Aveo5 giveaway!

Newman University celbrated Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, for the one-time-only reprise of the "Party on the Ponderosa." The event was held from 5-10 p.m. on the Larry and Carla Stovall Steckline Ranch in Garden Plain, Kan.

As a conclusion to Newman's year-long 75th anniversary celebration, the Party on the Ponderosa  featured:

• • A drawing to win a vehicle
  • A western steak dinner and refreshments
  • Games including Prairie Golf, horseshoes and cards
  • 'Cowpoke Caricature' portraits
  • Strolling entertainers in period costumes including "Buffalo Bill Cody," the Dixie Lee Dance Troupe, the Prairie Fire Quartet, and fiddlers Chelley Graves and Sarah Baxter
  • Cowboy poet and western singer Dave Zerf
  • Gunfight re-enactments by Bigger Than Life Productions and Newman University staff
  • Performances by the Prairie Drill Team Horses
  • The Bucky Fowler Band

In 2000, more than 400 people gathered at the "Party on the Ponderosa" and raised more than $100,000 for student scholarships. We want to do it again!

Party on the Ponderosa is a fundraising event supporting scholarships at Newman University, Wichita, Kansas. A $100 fee is required to attend the event. Each person attending the event automatically has the opportunity to win a newly redesigned 2009 Chevy Aveo5 from Joe Self Chevrolet – Cadillac, Inc. The drawing will be held on Sept. 26, 2009 at the event location; Larry and Carla Stovall Steckline's ranch in Garden Plain, Kansas. Winner need not be present to win. The vehicle winner assumes all taxes due including property, sales, state, and federal income taxes. There is no purchase necessary to enter the drawing. To participate complete a 3x5 index card with name, address, phone number and email address and mail to Newman University, Institutional Advancement Office, 3100 McCormick, Wichita, KS, 67213. Entries must received by 5 p.m., Sept. 24, 2009. One entry per person. Must be 18 years or older to win.
